Every year at the beginning of August, Medjugorje is again the most beautiful stage in the world: the line of prayers, songs, smiles, honest tears and great testimonies. Of course, it's the Youth Festival, a festival that every year brings together several thousands young people from all over the world regardless of culture, nation and language. They have only one thing in common: love for Christ.
The idea of such a festival comes from a young pilgrim from England, who in 1988 shared it with Fr. Slavko Barbarić. It was initiated by late Fr. Slavko Barbaric in 1990, there were only a hundred young people, two players and several singers. The number of youth has increased every year. They have felt God's power, peace and need for holly confession. Some of the youth have accepted their religious call to be priests.
Youth festival this year begins on 1st of August with Eucharistic and Adoration and ends on 6th of August with Holly Mass on Cross Mountain at 5:00 a.m. There will be catechesis, testimonies, liturgical celebrations, prayers and adoration on the program.
Community of Cenacolo makes this festival even more interesting.
It's a prayer group that brings together ex drug addicts, gamblers, alchocolics but also young people who want to change their life by joining the community. Every year Cenacolo performs interesting and attractive performances at the Youth festival.
Young people from this community share different testimonies of their life, their crosses and the way they went through all the troubles.
